The book Cities as Military Barracks by Jan Daniluk, published by the Museum of Gdańsk, describes life in the cities of Gdańsk and Sopot during the Second World War.

This PhD thesis focuses on how the presence of the German army affected daily lives of the inhabitants. Because of the subject matter we chose a strong visual language, evoking the sense of oppression: vivid red, used also in photographs and footnotes, thick black frames and broken typography. The fragmented frame on the cover is printed in glossy foil.
